The Traveling Suitcase

The Traveling Suitcase opens the door to learning about the immigration of over two million people of Jewish heritage to the United States at the turn of the 20th century. It chronicles one immigrant’s story: participants use object-based inquiry and hands-on activities to learn about immigrant life through the eyes of Eva Baen, a teenager who immigrated to Philadelphia in 1913. Through Eva’s story, participants have the opportunity to draw connections between immigrants in this time period, their own families’ stories, and contemporary immigration stories.

The presentation will be followed by a dessert reception.

The program is free and open to the Community.

Presented by the Rabbi Jacob Kraft Educational Foundation of Congregation Beth Shalom
