7 PM onward – Erev Shavuot: Jewish communities throughout Delaware (and beyond) begin the two-day celebration of Shavuot and the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, with a late-night study Kabbalah-inspired session on Jewish subjects called a Tikkun Leil Shavuot. We are indebted to Rabbi Jeremy Winaker for organizing all this information, so we can bounce from study session to study session, in the comfort of our homes (or attend in person).

Congregation Beth Emeth 7 PM – 9 PM, Community/Adult Learning Shavuot Program (in person and via Zoom). What does a Jew believe about God? It depends on the Jew! What do you believe about God? Come to our Shavuot program where we will look at a variety of Jewish perspectives on God and choose what works for each of us. We will also enjoy dairy desserts! Reb Simcha Raphael, a rabbinic pastor, therapist, and author of "Jewish Views of the Afterlife," will teach and lead a discussion about the biblical book of Ruth as a mythic tale of resilience and courage in response to grief and loss. After a break to welcome the holiday locally, those who want to enter the mystical spirit of Shavuot, will have the option to stay for the second part of the program, when Rabbi Rayzel Raphael, ritual artist and musician, will lead an interactive experience with her “Shechinah Oracle Cards.”
(To participate in person, pre-register from the Seaside website calendar.)
