Poetry for Peace: Jewish and Palestinian Voices of Israel
This Poetry for Peace event brings together the rich and diverse poetic traditions of Jewish and Palestinian communities in Israel to explore the universal themes of peace and coexistence and seeks to open a dialogue between two cultures deeply intertwined yet often divided by conflict.
Please join Dr. Wisam Chaleila, visiting Palestinian-Israeli professor, for readings of celebrated poets including Mahmoud Darwish, Yehuda Amichai, Samih Al-Qasim, and Ada Aharoni. The program will include two songs about peace to be delivered as a duet by Wisam Chaleila and Louise Bank, accompanied by Colin Miller on guitar.
The event is free and open to the public, co-sponsored by the Jewish Studies Program, the UDARI Antisemitism Committee, and the UDARI Visual and Performing Arts Committee.
