Persian Music from My Jewish Family Tradition

Seaside Jewish Community in partnership with The Jewish Federation of Delaware Presents a Multifaith Program: Persian Music from My Jewish Family Tradition with Dr. Galeet Dardashti
How different are Jewish and non-Jewish Persian music traditions? In this program Dr. Dardashti will show the cross-cultural connections between Jews and non-Jews in the Middle East through music.
Dr. Dardashti was born into a musical family. Her grandfather, Yona Dardashti was a popular singer of classical Persian music in Iran and her father, who sang opera, became a cantor in the United States. She has performed throughout the United States and Israel, including significant cantorial work.
Galeet holds a Ph.D in Anthropology in contemporary Middle Eastern/Arab music. She gives workshops, lectures and leads services in the Persian tradition.
This is a free program. To register, go to www.seasidejewishcommunity.com, click on the calendar, then click on October 29. Masks required. Questions? Please contact Sara Rosen at boysies.rosen@gmail.com
